About Kłodzko Valley Protected Landscape Area

The Kłodzko Valley Protected Landscape Area is located in the southwestern part of Poland, within the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, nestled among the Table Mountains (Góry Stołowe), the Orlické Mountains, and the Śnieżnik Massif. This protected region encompasses a diverse landscape characterized by rolling hills, river valleys, steep rocky outcrops, and a mosaic of forests, meadows, and agricultural land. The valley is formed mainly by the Upper Nysa Kłodzka river basin, supporting a rich variety of Central European flora and fauna. The area holds significant ecological value, harboring numerous rare and protected species such as the European otter, black stork, and various orchids. The region also exhibits a deep historical and cultural heritage, with traditional mountain villages, historic spas like Polanica-Zdrój and Kudowa-Zdrój, and remnants of medieval fortresses. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore extensive hiking and cycling trails that snake through scenic woodlands and past unique sandstone rock formations in the nearby Table Mountains National Park. Winter sports such as cross-country skiing are popular during colder months. Visitors appreciate the quiet rural atmosphere combined with picturesque panoramic views and opportunities for wildlife watching and photography. The protected landscape status promotes sustainable tourism while maintaining the natural and cultural integrity of the valley. The Kłodzko Valley is a key gateway for exploring the diverse mountain systems of the Sudetes, making it both a natural treasure and a hub for outdoor recreation in southwestern Poland.
